About us
When it’s demolition, it’s Umacon
We demolish Finland’s most challenging sites and make sure that everything that was once built can serve society again and again.
We demolish Finland’s most challenging sites and make sure that everything that was once built can serve society again and again.
In a world where new things are being built at an ever-increasing pace, we clear space for the new and make sure that everything that was once built can serve society again and again. We keep raw materials in circulation so that future generations will also have something to build with.
We provide demolition services nationwide, specialising in the most demanding industrial demolition projects. Our strong roots go back to a family business founded in 1988 that focused on serving paper industry companies in south-eastern Finland. Today, we have established ourselves as a partner to Finland’s largest industrial companies.
As well as industry, our demolition services cover the construction and infrastructure sector, the energy sector and the public sector. We handle everything from dismantling and moving individual machines and equipment to demolishing massive industrial buildings and entire city blocks. Our specialist expertise, almost 40 years of experience in Finland’s most demanding working environments and our high-performance equipment also make the most demanding demolition work possible, such as diamond wire sawing, which few demolition contractors in Finland carry out. Our cross-industry experience ensures that we tailor our services precisely to the specific requirements of each industry.
Our subsidiary Romuta Oy is a Finnish metal recycling company that buys scrap metal from businesses and private individuals and helps them recycle it throughout Finland.
Standing behind our word is a matter of honour for us. Umacon’s family business roots have instilled in us down-to-earth honesty, directness and openness. We don’t promise more than we can
deliver, and when we promise something, we keep that promise. Our client relationships are built on mutual respect and trust, which has led our clients to choose us again and again.

Demolition workers and superheroes have more in common than you might first think. Where superheroes protect people and fight evil, demolition workers take down challenging structures, protect the continuity of their clients’ production and fight against the waste of natural resources. Demolition workers make sure that everything that was once built can serve society again and again. Every piece of demolition material that is safely removed and sent for reuse or recycling is a step towards a future in which generations to come will also have something to build with. Neither of them – superhero or demolition worker – seeks the limelight, but both work in the midst of risk to ensure a more sustainable and better world for everyone.
Demolition workers don’t tolerate the waste of natural resources. In every demolition material, they see a raw material of the future waiting for its new purpose. Carefully recycling demolition materials is the first chapter of a longer hero’s story, after which the recycled materials continue their journey to become part of something new – the next building, machine or piece of infrastructure. This hero’s story is a joint effort not only by demolition workers but also by clients, builders and society as a whole, towards a future in which generations to come will also have something to build with.
Our Massive Force is built on our top-class equipment and decades of expertise. We demolish even the largest structures in a controlled way, as if they were Lego bricks.
We’re not immune to hazardous materials, but we know exactly how to handle them safely.
There’s nothing magical about our risk management – it’s based on careful anticipation and nearly 40 years of experience in challenging working environments. We spot risks before they arise and ensure safety on every project.
Safety is our number one priority. We don’t have an invisible force field, but our commitment to health and safety ensures that everyone on site and in the surrounding area stays safe.
We can’t control time, but we arrive at lightning speed and work whenever you need us. We demolish in record time, even round the clock, if it means we can spare you the costs of a production stoppage.
In every demolition material, we see the raw material of the future. We maximise the recovery rates of our demolition projects to nearly 100%.
We became demolition contractors, not bankers – but we handle materials worth millions as if they were our own. Everything of value stays safe throughout our projects.

When the carbon footprint – the difference between the emissions caused by our operations and the emissions saved – is negative, it is called a carbon handprint. In 2023, our carbon handprint (CO₂e) showed that the emissions we avoided exceeded the emissions caused by our demolition work, such as those from energy consumption, logistics and waste treatment.
