At the end of the day, demolition is about doing what has been agreed. It’s about treating every person fairly. To us, fairness means taking care of everyone’s safety and health, doing things the way we’ve agreed together, and not wrecking nature.
But promises are empty words if no one checks that they are kept. We want to make sure that everyone has the opportunity to speak up if they experience or witness unfair treatment.
We have introduced a whistleblowing channel jointly with Romuta Oy, as Romuta is our subsidiary. The channel exists so that employees, customers and other stakeholders of Umacon and Romuta can report a crime, a breach or suspected wrongdoing confidentially and anonymously.
We work with a third party, Easywhistle, which provides the system for handling reports and is responsible for protecting the anonymity of the person making the report.
Reports may concern
- breaches relating to people’s safety and health
- privacy violations
- environmental breaches
- corruption and financial misconduct
How to make an anonymous report
1. Go to the EasyWhistle service here
2. Read the instructions for making a report on the home page
3. Start a new report by clicking the “REPORT” button
4. Enter the requested information: a title, the location, the time and a description of what happened. You can attach image files. You don’t need to include your personal details in the message. Please note: make it clear in your message which company the report concerns – Umacon Oy or Romuta Oy. The reporting channel is shared because Romuta is owned by Umacon.
5. Send your report by clicking the “SEND” button
No analytics or other data is collected about the person making the report. Easywhistle converts image files into new files to remove metadata such as timestamps and other identifying information.
Following up on your report
Once you have made your report, you will receive a tracking code: make a note of it and keep it safe. With the tracking code, you can follow the progress of your report, provide additional information and read any comments.
To return to your report, go to the “open” tab and enter your tracking code in the field provided. Remember to check your report at regular intervals.
How reports are handled
Reports are handled by the senior management of Umacon Oy and Romuta Oy, the Quality Manager and the designated person from the health and safety committee representing employees. To ensure transparency, everyone who handles reports is informed of every report.
The whistleblowing channel is administered by a third party, Easywhistle Oy. In this arrangement, Romuta Oy and Umacon Oy are the data collectors and Easywhistle Oy is the data processor.
Our whistleblowing channel is based on the Finnish Act on the Protection of Persons Reporting Infringements of European Union and National Law (1171/2022). The Whistleblower Protection Act applies to the protection of people who report wrongdoing, so that anyone can report a crime, a breach or suspected wrongdoing confidentially and anonymously.
