Umacon recognised by Stora Enso for its safety work

Cooperation laid a strong foundation for successful safety work

Stora Enso Oyj, Imatra Mills, has thanked Umacon for its active safety work and for promoting safety culture at the Imatra Mills. Stora Enso is pleased with its cooperation with Umacon and describes Umacon’s performance as good.

“Umacon has managed safety throughout the project, from the tender stage of each site through to delivery. Safety issues have been taken into account in safety planning and carried through into the work. All the staff carrying out the work have shown commendable commitment to working safely. Any shortcomings and near misses have also been handled in an exemplary way. These situations have been discussed in toolbox talks, and lessons have been learnt from them,” says Marko Toimela, Safety Manager at Stora Enso.

“Based on our years of cooperation, I’d say that Umacon can be really pleased with the whole project and with the team that carried it out. The whole process, from sales and quotation to tendering, advance planning, mobilisation and the work carried out during delivery, has been handled as agreed,” continues Ari Mustalahti, Project Manager at Stora Enso.

Umacon’s site management feels that the cooperation with Stora Enso laid a strong foundation for successful safety work. We would like to thank Stora Enso for the cooperation and for making our safety work visible.

“Working with Stora Enso has been really smooth. We’ve had a very open line of communication about site activities, which has helped us develop safety together. We’ve also had a very settled crew on our site, which has meant that all our workers have always had a full understanding of Stora Enso’s requirements and of what is being done on site,” says Jussi Hyvönen, Contracts Manager at Umacon.

The recognition belongs to our workers

Umacon’s site management emphasises that Stora Enso’s safety recognition is recognition for the site workers who have taken part in the demolition work at the Imatra Mills over the past two years.

“Safety first. That’s how we work. It’s our thing, our motto,” says Marko Tuominen, Chargehand at Umacon.

“It felt really great when I heard about the recognition. I’m proud of the workers who have done the physical work on site. This recognition belongs to them,” stresses Jussi Hyvönen, Contracts Manager at Umacon.

“Behind the recognition is our workers’ responsible attitude to safety. Everyone has worked on site for our shared safety, just as they should,” continues Joni Pietiläinen, Site Supervisor at Umacon.
